This illustration was for the Coffs Harbour Council's 2018 Sustainable Christmas Campaign. They wanted to encourage people to create less waste, through having workshops for making your own gifts. The campaign also included articles that aimed to educate people around the topic of waste that can happen around Christmas time.
The main brief for the illustration was to encourage people to see the beauty and gift we already have in the natural environment. It tells the story of the local Coffs area; a mix of ocean, rainforest and bush, and these images are created into the classic Christmas 'wreath'.
Australian Christmas is a funny thing, we are slowly gathering our own culture around the day, but still sing songs about it being cold outside and dashing through the snow. It is a time to give generously to each other, because we have been given to generously, and that could be through ways other than creating more waste.
